5 ♥

I have many loves. While the list is seemingly endless, I can always count on some things to bring me pure joy and delicious delight. Sometimes life’s simplest pleasures come in small packages; sometimes it’s in the breathtaking beauty around us; other times, it’s merely intangible. These loves not only put a smile on my face, but inspire me to live, learn, and create.

Pretty in Peplum

From dresses to skirts, tops and blazers, peplums are popping up everywhere. It’s fun, flirty, and feminine and I love how it creates a flattering hourglass silhouette to your body. Peplums can be tricky to pull off successfully, as it’s all in the overall balance of your outfit. Wearing peplum on top should be balanced with tapered pants or jeans; as a skirt, pair it with a fitting, tucked in top to ensure a sophisticated, sleek look.  Subtle or exaggerated, I am lusting after these ruffled flounces in a way that’s both bold yet demure.

Mintsession

I have a new colour obsession: mint. I am beyond fixated with it and simply cannot get enough of this pretty pastel. I’ve never been too keen on the colour green; however, something about mint is so refreshing and appealing. It’s light airiness is cool and sophisticated, soft and feminine. And since it’s so light, it compliments a lot of other colours and is easy to pair with. Plus, I just love the name mint. It sounds so simple, yet elegant. I recently picked up a gorgeous pair of mint jeans and am dying to find more pieces. It’s official: I am mintsessed and want/need/must have anything and everything in this fabulously chic colour.

Spring Polishes

I am slowly beginning to transition into spring wear, making a few purchases here and there. Although it’s not quite warm enough to be wearing tees and flats, nails are a great way to start incorporating a little spring fling to your everyday look. There's something relaxing about painting my nails, and my hands and feet look so much prettier with a splash of colour on. In fact, I feel a little naked without polish and after the winter chill, I am excited to heat up to the season's newest colours. The soft sherberts and pretty pastels - my nails are simply itching to be buttered up with these fabulous hues. I need to get my hands (literally) on these.

"June" - a peachy apricot
"Distraction" - a pretty coral pink
"A Crewed Interest" - a luminous peach
"To Buy or Not to Buy" - a shimmering lavender
"Thanks a Windmillion" - a sexy, sea-foam green
"Trout Pout" - a bright, salmon coral
"Bossy Boots" - a light pistachio
"Knackered" - a twinkling oyster with micro glitter flecks

Pumpkin Spice Hummus

My love for all things pumpkin has grown immensely over the past year. Although typically a fall favourite, pumpkin is available year round and can be enjoyed at any season. The boyfriend and I recently discovered a surprising twist on a delicious dish: hummus. Pumpkin hummus is a refreshing new take on your typical hummus elevated to another level with a decadently sweet, earthy spiced taste. It's easily our favourite hummus to date and is so incredible that I could eat an entire bowl of this luscious goodness in one sitting. Enjoy it with some apple slices or toasted pita crips, brushed with a generous coating of olive oil, cinnamon, and maple syrup. The result is a candy coated cinnamon maple glazed crisps that compliments the pumpkin perfectly.

Colour Me Denim

After a rather unpleasantly chilly weekend, I am more than ready for the awakening of spring, and even more eager for one of the season’s hottest trends: coloured denim. I am a huge advocate of colour, and wearing coloured denim is a fun, bold way to spice up your wardrobe. There is a beautiful assortment covering the rainbow spectrum: red, orange, yellow, turquoise, teal, pink, purple – I want them all. But the colour that I am most gravitating towards is coral. It’s the perfect blend of red and orange, and will instantly make you feel bold, sexy, and confident. As a more versatile colour, it can easily be paired with blues, greens, yellows, purples, and of course neutrals. So now the hunt begins for the perfect coral pair.
